Cut down on refined carbohydrates

I love desserts, bread, noodles and all the sugar stuff....collectively known as refined carbohydrates. Sounds cool...refined indeed except the impact on the body is a bit
"uncouth".

All these sugary stuff are broken by my digestive system into glucose which is metabolised into carbon dioxide, water and energy. I get energy , that is the good news ! The not so good news is that if most of the carbon dioxide remains as carbonic acid, acidic wastes will pile up inside me. Yeeks ! I am told if our body gets too acidic , it is bad as our body will offload the alkaline substances from our bone, including calcium and magnesium to "correct" our acidic condition. Our metabolism of essetntial fatty acids also gets disrupted, thereby leading to imbalance in our hormone profile.

Go for lo-sugar, hi-veg

Hi readers,

With the festive season round the corner, the challenge is to maintain size despite larger-than-normal inputs of sumptuous food....yummy.....here is a tip you may want to look out for :

Fruits that are hi-sugar will add to your waistline; hence consumption of low-sugar fruits and high-water vegetables is advisable. Examples are tomato, avocado, red, yellow, orange and green bell peppers, lemon and lime...Such low-sugar and high-water vegetables combine well with most food types.
Note : although Avocado is a fruit, it is low in sugar and high in protein so it can be combined with vegetables and grains.
Although tomato is acidic, it has alkaline effect because of its low sugar content.
Lemons and limes have alkaline effect so they can be used together with starches, proteins and oils.
No harm also trying out wheatgrass juice. The picture of wheatgrass is from : the bittenworld.com
